David H. Fink is a 1977 cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School and a 1974 magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College. He was engaged in private practice in Oakland County for 24 years, and stepped down as managing shareholder of his own firm to run for United States Congress.

From 2002-2005, he served as a member of the cabinet of Michigan Governor, Jennifer Granholm, as the Director of the Office of State Employer.
