University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law, JD, 1987
David J. Shea graduated from the University of Detroit-Mercy School
of Law in 1987 and began practicing as an attorney with the law firm
of Plunkett & Cooney. In 1992, Mr. Shea began representing plaintiffs
in medical malpractice, product liability, and toxic tort litigation
with the nationally recognized law firm of Sommers, Schwartz, Silver
& Schwartz. At that time, Mr. Shea undertook the lead role in the
representation of thousands of women in lawsuits against national breast
implant manufacturers in Michigan, resulting in a highly publicized
multi-billion dollar national settlement in favor of women across the
country. Mr. Shea was appointed by his fellow plaintiff attorneys to
serve as their spokesperson on both the state and national steering
committees.
